Women’s 100 Meter Hurdles Race In Shanghai Diamond League

The women’s 100m hurdles season opener at the Shanghai Diamond League delivered fireworks as Olympic champion Masai Russell faced off against Bahamian star Devynne Charlton in one of the most exciting races of the weekend. With both athletes entering the season in strong form, fans expected a showdown—and they got exactly that.

From the starting gun, Charlton came out fast and looked sharp over the early hurdles, briefly appearing in control of the race. However, Russell showed why she is one of the best in the world, staying composed and exploding through the final stretch. With flawless technique and elite speed between the hurdles, Russell surged ahead late to secure the win in a world-leading and meeting record time of 12.25 seconds. Charlton finished second in an impressive 12.38 seconds, setting a new Bahamian national record in the process.

The race immediately set the tone for what could become one of the most exciting rivalries of the track season. Both women looked strong, fast, and championship-ready, proving the women’s hurdles division is deeper and more competitive than ever.

If this season opener is any indication, fans should expect plenty more thrilling battles between Russell and Charlton throughout the Diamond League season.
